Ngā Marae o Ngāti Hine
Our marae, our ancestral homes, are the embodiment of our tūpuna and the cultural heart of our community. Over the years they have been the places where Te Tū o Ngāti Hine has been nurtured and maintained and where the manākitanga of Ngāti Hine has been shown to all our manuhiri. They have been places where deaths have been mourned, lives celebrated, our heritage remembered and ultimately all issues facing our people discussed. In times of crisis or calamity our marae have been places of refuge and relief for all members of our community... see Environmental Plan
As Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hine evolves into a new entity, our marae will be the foundation upon which it will be built. Therefore, it will be important that our marae are strong individually and collectively. Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Hine will only be as strong as its weakest link and therefore it is behoving on the Rūnanga to work together with its respective marae to establish strong representation. Marae representatives to the Rūnanga will represent the interests of that marae but the overall interests of Ngāti Hine must be their primary concern... see Strategic Plan
